Barky Boys Origins

Barky Boys started with a little pup called Shanti who, like so many other dogs, required pet sitting while her owner went back to work. Shanti was a shy sausage dog that immediately took to Irina, who would take Shanti on different adventures everyday.

As they grew closer, Shanti grew more confident - and Irina grew more certain that this was how they wanted to spend their days.

More and more puppy friends started to join Shanti and Irina on their walks, and the more pups joined, the more they all learned how to play and socialise.

Wanting a career change, Irina and Emily threw themselves into this new adventure and worked hard to build Barky Boys, always driven by their passion for animals and a desire to provide excellent day care services to pups throughout Edinburgh.

Irina and Emily live in Edinburgh with their two cats, and given the chance would gladly adopt all of the daycare pups.

Meet our Team

  • Irina

    FOUNDER

Irina is the co-founder for Barky Boys and a lifelong dog devotee. Growing up in Portugal, Irina would find themselves rescuing stray animals from a very young age (at times to their parents’ dismay).

From building their own animal rescue in the backyard to working their way through different career changes, Irina has found a way to put their drive and passion to work through founding Barky Boys.

  • Emily

    DIRECTOR

Emily is Barky Boys’ (and Irina’s!) other half; growing up around all sorts of animals in her native New Hampshire, Emily found the perfect match between her love for animals and long walks in the woods when co-founding Barky Boys.

With a flair for creativity and a background in freelance writing, Emily took to Barky Boys’ social media page and is the author behind the puppy posts.
